This past summer was one of the busiest but also one of the most memorable summers to date. In fact, it was so busy that I didn’t managed to blog about a single one of our summer adventures so I thought I’d do a quick roundup…
Summer 2019 started with a trip to South Africa in April (technically that’s before summer but the weather, as always, was gorgeous in South Africa so it felt like summer). We started our trip with a few days in Cape Town where we caught up with friends and family and enjoyed some of our favorite activities like climbing Lion’s Head and running along Sea Point Promenade. We also visited a few new places including some fantastic bars and restaurants (the foodie scene in Cape Town really is world class) and also the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa which is only worth visiting for the building.
Next we headed to Stellenbosch where we spent time visiting our favorite wine estates, Uva Mira and Delaire Graff, and sipping on some of our favorite South African wines.
The third and final stop of our trip to South Africa was Johannesburg where we spent a busy and fun filled week with some of our best friends.
In May I went to San Diego with a girlfriend where we enjoyed some beach time and a humorous evening with Trevor Noah, a fellow South African, live on his Loud & Clear tour.
In June we headed to Vegas for two nights of great food and even better company and parties to celebrate a friends 30th birthday in style!
We spent 4th of July weekend in Tahoe with friends, staying at my favorite spot, Edgewood Tahoe which I’ve written about previously, and spending all day relaxing on a boat in the middle of Emerald Bay!
We drove a RV (this was the first time I had ever been in an RV) from Seattle to the breathtaking Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington State to party with friends at Above & Beyond Group Therapy Weekender in July!
We went to London for Labor Day weekend to catch up with our oldest and dearest friends and to explore the English countryside near my sister and her husbands new home in Surrey.
We also had many of our favorite people come to visit us in San Francisco including both mine and my husbands parents and two of my very best girl friends from South Africa. This gave me the perfect opportunity to show off the best of San Francisco, explore places I hadn’t been to in a while like Angel Island, the Conservatory of Flowers and Yosemite and also try a few new things like visit the Farallon Islands and ride the Napa Valley Wine Train!
Finally, after a wonderful few days in Chicago ticking off bucket list items with one of my closest friends (Chicago deserves it’s own post so stay tuned for more details about that trip), summer 2019 wrapped up with a weekend in New York seeing friends, exploring a few new sights and enjoying a much needed date night!
Besides not having the time to write about all of our summer adventures, I was also mostly too busy to take photographs so thank you to all of my friends who contributed their photographs and allowed me to share them. Lastly, a big thank you to everyone who made summer 2019 the best summer yet!
